The Boat Shed @ Salt – Featured Venue

Have you ever been to Salt Café in Portchester, Hampshire? It’s a destination café, the kind of place you hear about on the grapevine, pay them a visit, become a regular, tell your friends, and so it goes on. It’s not somewhere you pass by, it’s down a remote lane… in the yacht haven of a boat yard. So, what’s so special about it? You can sit out on the jetty watching the marine life, enjoying delicious coffee with your breakfast/brunch/lunch. It’s the little touches that make it so special – the basket of hot water bottles if the day…

Featured Caterer – Tin Roof Kitchen

Here at Margot’s Wedding we love street food caterer Tin Roof Kitchen. Their mobile setup looks super-cool, we especially love the industrial-style lighting, hessian sacks and flowers in colourful tin cans. They’re the perfect addition to an outdoor festival-style wedding. We caught up with owner Barny to find out a little more about his fantastico business… Q. Hi Barny! We love Tin Roof Kitchen. Can you tell us about your experience and how the business came about? A. My love of Italian food comes from time spent working at Fifteen London (Jamie Oliver’s restaurant) and the working holidays in Italy…

Electric Romance Shoot

Who’s got that back-to-school feeling? Parents all over the land shoot their hands up! My son doesn’t start school until next year so he’s been in nursery as usual all over the holidays. This time next year we’ll be knee deep in uniform, pencil cases and proud front door photos… what the hell am I going to do with him in the holidays?! The end of the summer has a unique feeling I think, and boy what a summer it’s been! June wasn’t crazy for me but come July I had my Hampshire wedding fair with Kissing Gate Events so…

Sophie & Nick’s Midsummer Feastival

What a beauty we have for you today! Sophie and Nick perfectly mixed rustic farm vibes with lavish, indulgent treats for their guests. Over to the happy couple to tell you more… Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. When it came to the style of our wedding, we were led first of all by the date. As it was the day after the longest day, we envisaged a midsummer vibe; festival, feasting, singing and dancing. The idea then developed to include meadow flowers, prairie ribbons, floral patterns and celestial touches. Sophie grew up on a farm,…

My Best Friend’s Wedding

On Sunday I returned from the most amazing wedding in France. To say it was the best day of my life wouldn’t be fair on my son but it was pretty damn close! It was Lou and Ryan’s wedding. Lou and I have been friends for twenty years, we met when we moved in together on the first day of uni in 1999. Despite her moving out to the Alps soon after we graduated we’ve remained the best of friends and have had some amazing experiences together. Lou and her brother ran a bar in Val D’Isere for many years…

Updates from Margot’s HQ

I am SO sorry for radio silence on the blog recently. I went camping at the beginning of the month and broke my toes, then when I got back I was mega busy trying to finish issue 15 before I went to France for my best friend’s wedding. I got back on Sunday and have been trying to sort my life out in the presence of my three-year-old son. He’s gone back to nursery today so I’m back at my desk… I think I left part of my brain in France though. Later in the week/early next week (when the…

Supplier Spotlight – Hedge Rose Florist

Today we’re pleased to feature new Chichester-based florist Hedge Rose. They’ve just joined our online directory and we’ve visited their gorgeous new shop in Chichester. So, what happens when a florist gets married? We find out about the flowers owner Meg chose for her own wedding at Bignor Park… “I only decided on my flowers three weeks before the wedding” explains Meg “as a florist, flowers were such an important part of my day and after seeing so many wedding flowers, and so many different ideas over the last fifteen years, I just couldn’t decide!” Meg’s chosen colour scheme was pale…

Weddings that Stand the Test of Time

July 30, 2019 | Love, Marriage, News, Photography, real wedding

I’ve wanted to write this post for a while because it’s something I feel quite passionately about. I’ve run this wedding business for ten years and even before that I was involved with weddings in some form or another. I worked in the function room at Hampton Court Palace when I was 18 and then, in later life, I worked for event companies; one company specialised in Moroccan-themed events and the other, hen and stag weekends all over the world. The reason I’m telling you this is because I feel like I’ve seen it all when it comes to weddings….
