Styled Bridal Shoot

Fire & Ice Styled Bridal Shoot

April 3, 2019 | News

Last year I coordinated this styled bridal shoot at Southend Barns and it’s proudly featured in our special issue. When deciding on the theme I thought about what would work at the venue. They have an amazing barn, ceremony room, outdoor ceremony area and incredible bridal suite. There are sheepskin rugs galore and a fire pit outside so I wanted to convey cool, icy Nordic vibes. The twinkly lights, and star detail within the headpieces and styling really injected a modern celestial element. The team were brilliant at bringing my mood board and vision alive… and we had lots of fun with Hana’s…

Secret Barn Secret Saturday – 6th April

March 28, 2019 | News

Hannah has been advertising Petal and Feast and The Secret Barn with me for years but I’ve never been to the venue. I don’t even know why. I think somehow the fact it’s secret makes me think I won’t be able to find it? Anyway the marketing is great because it sums up everything they stand for. This isn’t a corporate venue, they don’t have multiple weddings every weekend. It’s relaxed and rustic, great and British. Think Darling Buds of May. Think country lanes, farms, fairy lights, campfires and bell tents… Don’t just imagine it, go see it for yourself!…

Rent Event – Supplier Spotlight

March 26, 2019 | News

Rent Event is a family-run hire business based in Eastbourne, East Sussex. The inspiration came from the owner’s festival-style wedding in 2015. They found that many of the things they would have loved weren’t easily available or affordable in the local area… and so Rent Event was born! They source their items from far and wide, always on the lookout for something perfect to add to their vast, ever-growing collection. They understand the importance of fun for all the family and the items available evoke a real sense of fun and childhood nostalgia. Much of their stock is reclaimed or…

Plastic Free Weddings

March 21, 2019 | News

After reading about Princess Eugenie’s plastic free wedding and writing a piece on eco-glitter for Beautiful Bells recently, I asked my friend Claire Sumners, AKA Zero Waste Maman, if she’d like to contribute some of her top tips. Over to Claire… First tip, don’t be fooled by green-washing. You might think you’re buying an item that is ‘biodegrable’ or ‘eco’ or ‘green’ but you’re just buying into what producers want you to think. Wedding magic can be fun, flirty, glittery and stylish without harming the environment. Makeup Head to Urban Apothecary for THE BEST lip and cheek tint. It comes…

Wedding Macarons

Supplier Spotlight – Queen Bees

March 7, 2019 | News

Today we hand over to Allison from Queen Bees to answer the question on everyone’s lips, are they macarons or macaroons?… I must have had this asked hundreds of times! Although officially they’re ‘French Macarons’ I don’t actually mind what you call them. Being a Geordie, now in the South of England, I quite like calling them macaroons as my pronunciation makes it more fun to say if I stress my northern accent. Regardless of their name, they are little delights of yumminess. I’m Allison and I own and run Queen Bees. I’ve learnt how to make macarons by practice,…
