Fun Family festival wedding

Family Friendly Festival Fun

January 10, 2018 | News

Kathryn & James Pierce embraced the festival theme to celebrate their big day but not because it was ‘en trend’, simply because it suited them and their guests. With over 50 kids on the guest list they needed to make sure there was something to occupy them all day… football, photo booth, bouncy castle, face painting. We’re willing to bet those 50 kids slept well that night and had the best day EVER!

“We are quiet creative / visual people and like to think a bit differently to others.”

“Re the dress – I didn’t fancy anything too girly, long or floaty but short, simple that I could wear with flip-flops AND that I could ditch as soon as possible so I could put on my shorts and me new ‘WIFEY’ T-shirt!”

“We sent coloured wrist bands out to our guests – and then we did posh picnic hampers – your coloured band matched the coloured balloons and that was essentially your ‘table’ – it was all handmade and (I’m told) it was amazing. We had fresh bread, Greek salad, honey roast ham, Camembert, Scotch eggs and sausage rolls.”

“We had an ice cream van for all. Unlimited.”

“In the evening, we had two street food vendors; a Land Rover pizza oven and a soul street food kitchen (jerk chicken, pulled pork, gumbo etc.”

“We had a whiskey bar that opened at 7pm.”

“We had an ‘after party’ with a live acoustic singer around a bonfire with blankets.”

“We also had an iDJ – a giant iPad where guests could choose songs… and we could have playlists of music chosen by us in advance! It was a HIT!”

“There was a moment when we stood back with Hana and looked at all our guests sitting in their coloured groups, listening to steel pans, all getting on and enjoying the sunshine and the food. It was awesome. Seeing the kids on the bouncy castle, playing football and just being kids. Not a device to be seen.”

“I walked down the aisle to my nan & grandads favourite song – Follow Me – John Denver, we walked out to Dreams by Amber Leigh Irish and our first dance was Do your thing – Basement Jaxx.”
