Today we hear from Helen Baker from Betty Loves Vintage about this stylish ‘Vintage Botanical’ shoot she worked on last year. We love the simplicity of this shoot and the stationery from Lynda Loves is divine.
Over to Helen:
Sussex has a lot of hidden gems when it comes to wedding venues and when I heard a new rustic wedding venue had launched not far from me, and was having an open day I had to go and have a look round. The Pilgrims Rest did not disappoint! The 600-year-old timber framed Wealden hall house is right next to Battle Abbey. Not only is it steeped in history, it’s also filled with so many beautiful details. I was inspired by the texture of the exposed brick work, the patterns in the timbers of the beams and the atmosphere created by the beautiful inglenook fire places.
I wanted to create a botanical-style wedding top table, drawing inspiration for the green and white colour palette from the natural backdrop adding golden accents to create warmth.
Going through my vast vintage hire collection I selected pieces to fit the theme; vintage crockery in shades of green featuring botanical designs, beautiful vintage cut glassware to reflect the candle light, tea tins and vintage books in shades of green with gold detailing to add interest and create height on the table.
A couple of chilly February mornings were spent drinking tea and talking thorough ideas with the venues owner Becca, their wedding planner Amy and a talented group of like-minded, creative wedding suppliers. We all each shared our ideas, our resources, our time and our skills. when shoot day came along we created something beautiful that we’re all proud of
