Update from the Editor – Home Schooling Hell and Support Bubble Pics

January 20, 2021 | Updates from HQ

Ok, full disclosure, I’ve been crying, my son’s been crying. We’re both tired, we’re not doing school work today, we’re watching our individual devices and doing our best to have some space from each other… In the interest of regular blog content, here are some photos of us (in happier times!) with our support bubble, my sister Sally, her partner Mike and my niece Martha. These photos were taken by Teddy Pig Photography in my hometown of Portchester, Hampshire. Kerry Tongue is one of my favourite photographers in the industry. Check out one of her real weddings here, a recent…

Elegant and Sunny Italian Shoot among the Vines

There have been plenty of cancelled travel plans in recent months. Oh to share al fresco feasts under the warm sun… *sigh*. When this vibrant Italian shoot popped into my inbox I knew I had to share for some upbeat sunny bridal inspiration. Over to Adele, AKA Joli Reve, to tell you all about it… We are fortunate enough to live in a land rich with ancient buildings, with their own soul. Our vision is always modern, folk, boho and free-spirited… The venue was a wonderful castle located in the green heart of Italy, its elegant cellar and native vineyard…

Hester & Boris’s Chic London Pub Wedding

Note: This fabulous wedding was in Autumn 2019, so pre-Covid. It’s bizarre to see people packed in close proximity in a pub; eating, drinking, hugging, kissing and enjoying themselves! It’s a reminder of everything we’ve been missing and everything we need to get back to ASAP! We love this simple, chic London wedding with Bulgarian traditions… Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. We didn’t set a specific theme or style for our wedding. We wanted it to represent both our cultures, Bulgaria and the UK, and to reflect the fact we were getting married in London….

2020 Roundup

December 23, 2020 | Photography, Updates from HQ

It’s my birthday!!!!!! This time last year I was celebrating turning 40 with my nearest and dearest. I’m so glad I threw a party, it just goes to show you never know what’s around the corner. Today I’m going for a walk with a pal and hanging out with my support bubble AKA my sister’s family. Is it possible I might have an early night and be hangover free for Christmas Eve for the first time in years??? (Above photos: Teddy Pig Photography) I’m over Christmas already. Covid restrictions have toned everything right down so why does it still feel…

The Benefits of Engagement Shoots

If you’re looking at wedding photography have you considered booking an engagement shoot too? There may be many reasons you’ve disregarded it as ‘not necessary’ or ‘not your thing’, but it could actually be the perfect part of the jigsaw for the following reasons: 1. Get to know your photographer. You’ve probably chosen your photographer because you like their photography style. Maybe you’ve had a chat on the phone, a coffee together, or perhaps you met at a wedding fair. An engagement shoot is the perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer a little better. Q&A with Carole from Duncton Mill & The Naked Food Company

Q. As we know it’s not been a normal year. How are you coping with everything? What’s this year been like for you? A. It became apparent very early on that things were going to be incredibly different this year. I knew it was going to be a rollercoaster for me but the worst thing was that my clients were really going to suffer. I decided immediately that I would do everything I could to make postponing their dream days as quick and painless as possible. I started by rolling over all of my catering and venue bookings and deposits…

Gatsby Glam – 1920s Bridal Shoot at Hayne House

As a professional makeup artist, I have long been fascinated with the roaring 20s era for fashion, glamour and sophistication. I was eager to incorporate the perfect 1920s bridal look into my portfolio for brides dreaming of a great Gatsby-style wedding… Hayne House in Kent was my natural choice for such a shoot. The ‘Former Hunting Lodge’ at Hayne House was once home to Edward Simpson and his wife. In the 1920s they would often travel to their other house at Port Lympne where they were entertained by Charlie Chaplin. I picked the luxurious colour palette of emerald green, gold,…

Styled Shoot – Edgy, Intimate, Sustainable

Earlier this year Jude (stylist and venue owner of Wickerwood Farm) and Anna (floral designer from Tales from Apple Tree House) hatched a plan for an inspirational bridal shoot. They wanted to focus on intimate weddings (sign of the times) with an emphasis on sustainability, a subject close to both their hearts. The concept of the shoot was to depict the ever-changing seasons using dried flowers from Anna’s East Sussex cutting garden, as well as Jude’s interpretation of ‘festive luxe’. It shows how a smaller, intimate venue can be cleverly used to create a mood using natural, organic materials. The…
