Maz & Shaun’s Big Fat Greek Wedding… in Sussex!

Today we’re pleased to feature Maz & Shaun’s Greek-themed wedding. We absolutely love the pastel suits, the Airstream and the Greek Taverna foodie vibes… Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. We really wanted to incorporate Maz’s Greek-Cypriot heritage but also pay homage to the gorgeous, rustic barn at Pangdean so we had lots of small touches, like olive leaves, being a consistent theme on favours, stationery and in our flowers. Equally, our food was Greek-Cypriot inspired. Q. What was most important to you when it came to tying the knot/celebrating your marriage? A. We wanted the…

Earthy Outdoor Weddings at Chiddinglye

Today we hear from Becky Cook who runs The Garden Chef and Patrick’s Barn at Chiddinglye in Sussex. She tells us what they wanted to portray from this earthy natural shoot, and how special Happy Valley is if you want to make nature a big part of your day (and I for one would really love to hug one of those amazing ancient trees!) Over to Becky… We really love smaller weddings, weddings that reflect the couple and the things that are important to them. We relish helping our couples on an individual basis and building their perfect days, working…

Sarah & Tom’s Relaxed Waterside Wedding in Itchenor, West Sussex

Sarah & Tom’s wedding plans were scuppered by Covid so by the time they had their reception it was all about friends and family gathering, and the P.A.R.T.Y. Jason Williams has captured the love and laughter perfectly in his signature photography style. Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. We knew we wanted a venue that was by the sea/water, as we both love spending our spare time at the beach or in the sea. We also wanted a fairly laid-back wedding, and really wanted a party to celebrate with our friends and family. There wasn’t a…

Abbie & Ollie’s Colourful, Relaxed Brighton Wedding

Abbie & Ollie didn’t feel a tradition wedding suited them so they opted for a civil partnership at Brighton Pavilion followed by lunch on the seafront… and a midnight swim. Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. The style of the day was “colourful, comfortable & chic”. We wanted guests to feel like they could dress down or dress up, express themselves and feel stylish but relaxed. Q. What was most important to you when it came to tying the knot/celebrating your marriage? A. The most important thing for us was that the day felt real and…

The Mother of all Weddings at Wilderness Festival

The Mother of all Weddings was held at Wilderness festival last summer. It was a very special gathering and today we have an interview with organiser Stephanie Pollard from Sunday Assembly. Q. Can you tell us about Sunday Assembly? A. Sunday Assembly is a global network of secular communities that celebrate life following the motto “Live Better, Help Often, Wonder More”. There’s a basic format to our assemblies, which includes meaningful themes, sing-alongs to pop and rock tunes (we put the lyrics up on a screen like karaoke), a main speaker giving a TED-style talk, poetry, and members of the…

Eco Folksy Bridal Shoot

Hampshire-based photographer Sarah Hoyle coordinated this shoot as a way to portray the values of her brand which is all about simple living and sustainability. “The shoot had a folksy feel to it” explains Sarah “I described it as being a mix between Poldark and Mumford and Sons!” Sarah brought together a team of suppliers with the same ethical and environmental values, to create a shoot that was eco-friendly and sustainable. The venue, Gilbert White’s House in Hampshire, is classed as an eco-friendly wedding venue so it was the perfect choice. They also have their own in-house brewery so the table…

The Client Journey with Hartt Cakes

March 11, 2022 | Hampshire Wedding, Wedding cake

Last winter Becky from Hartt Cakes had no bookings due to Covid and had to shield, so she turned her attention to her client’s journey. Over to Becky to talk us through the process… I looked at the journey from enquiry to delivery of the cake. I put myself in the shoes of my clients and found SO many pain points throughout the process. I don’t want my clients being frustrated or overwhelmed at all, weddings are stressful enough! I found an automated CRM software I now swear by called ‘Dubsado’. It took me over 20 hours to learn the…

International Women’s Day

I wanted to break our usual format with some musings from me to mark International Women’s Day. Today I celebrate the strong resilient woman that I am now, I honour the journey I’ve been on to get here and I look forward to the road ahead, whatever it may bring… I take a moment to recognise and remember the strong women in my family; the women who taught me to be independent and self-sufficient. I honour their struggles and strength of character. I acknowledge my circle of female friends and I smile when I think of their individual energy, and…

A Colourful Wedding Doesn’t Necessarily Mean Rainbows…

When I saw this shoot it was no surprise to learn it was Photography by Vicki‘s concept (if you’ve seen her website or social media you’ll know why… she’s the queen of colour). In lockdown Vicki spent time researching colour combinations from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. She found the colour clashes evoked memories from family and childhood photo albums. The clashes seemed fearless and Vicki wanted to see how combinations from these eras could work in the wedding industry. It was an experiment to move away from typical wedding colours. These colour combos provide inspiration to couples who want…
