Vegan Wedding Shoot

Ethical Vegan Bridal Shoot – PART 1

July 2, 2018 | News

Photographer Nicki Feltham went vegan last year for health reasons and she hasn’t looked back. “There’s so little (if any) health benefits to eating meat or consuming milk and dairy” explains Nicki, “and I choose to no longer eat something that another living being has had to suffer to bring to my table… don’t get me wrong, I’m no lettuce eating angel. Did you know Oreos are accidentally vegan?!!”. Nicki started thinking about the cosmetics she uses too and will now only buy products that are not tested on animals. She love the “B” range in Superdrug and she tells…

How to Write Stand out Wedding Vows

June 29, 2018 | News

Say I do to writing your own vows!     When you sit down to compose the promises and words which will share your commitment with your loved one, it can be quiet daunting, but don’t panic… it doesn’t have to be as scary as you think! First things first… think about your journey. Consider your history and memories. You have so many stories to tell why not add them in when you have the one chance to share this in front of your friends and family. This is a great example you may want to start with “From the moment…

Big Day Takeaway?

June 27, 2018 | News

Feeding your wedding guests is a costly and complex business. Whole catering teams need to travel to you, equipment needs to be hired, kitchens need to be erected in fields… it’s no mean feat! At Margot’s Wedding we’re all about thinking outside the box and defying convention, so when we heard Deliveroo were moving into the world of weddings, we were interested. We think, done properly, a take away en masse is a pretty cool idea for a relaxed and modern wedding! Deliveroo’s first bride, Martha Macgregor, said “No two couples are the same, so why should we settle for…

Intimate London Wedding

June 20, 2018 | News

Anne and Graziano from Islington had an intimate and laid back and spring wedding. Kerry from Teddy Pig Photography captured their elegant day beautifully: “We chose Frederick’s for our celebratory lunch initially because it was convenient to get to (we walked!). They have a beautiful private room upstairs overlooking Camden Passage and flooded with light during the day.” “Angel Flowers did the bridal bouquet and the table decorations. They know Frederick’s very well and were fantastic in providing advice. The only thing I knew for sure was that I wanted seasonal flowers and they nailed it! I loved my bouquet,…

Wedding Film Photography

Shot on Film

June 18, 2018 | News

Softer. Timeless. One-off pieces of art.  Joanna Brown trained in photography when digital was not invented so it’s really at the heart of where she learnt her craft.  She’s been shooting weddings for seven years and has always taken film cameras along. She uses 2 x 35mm cameras with black and white and colour film in each, a couple of Polaroids and a Diana camera. “I tend to use the 35mm for documentary” Joanna explains “and then the others for the more static times of the day like portraiture and detail shots”.  At the moment Joanna is shooting film as a second shooter, working in addition to a digital shooter. “Images shot on film are completely different to digital…

Wedding Hay Bales

Supplier Spotlight – Bales 4 Events

June 16, 2018 | News

Picture the scene; it’s the morning of your outdoor, festival-style wedding. There’s not a cloud in the sky. It’s warm but not too hot and everything is ready. Within the tipi by the lake all the tables are ready, Champagne is chilling and canapes are being prepared. The rowing boat is decorated with bunting and is strewn with cushions, ready for photos of the newly-weds. The ceremony area boasts an arch decorated with stunning fresh flowers, the aisle is a haphazard runner of mismatched Persian rugs. Hay bales form rows of seats for your guests; they’re the perfect height and…

Wedding Cake

Cake Calender

June 13, 2018 | News

I like to revisit the archives occasionally and bring you useful content we’ve featured in previous magazines. I loved this feature from issue two; cake flavours by month depending on what’s in season. Trends come and go but what’s in season doesn’t change! Tess MacMahon’s business (Eastbourne-based Chatter Cakes) is no longer operating, she went onto become a chef. We can see why! Over to Tess: One of the first things couples ask me when I meet them is ‘do we have to have fruit cake?’ and I always have to restrain a giggle. I imagine some evil cake monster…

Wedding Hair Make Up

Classic, Timeless Beauty…

June 11, 2018 | News

It can be exhausting trying to keep up with trends in the wedding industry… and I think weddings that are too ‘trendy’ can end up looking dated quite quickly. I started out in the industry ten years ago when the vintage/country garden vibe was all the rage; cake stands and bunting galore. Granted a lot of these elements (i.e. vintage china and hay bales) are still used in weddings today, but (although the vintage craze stuck around a fair while) times have changed. My favourite weddings have elements of things that are ‘en trend’ mixed with personal touches (regardless of…

Elegant & Sumptuous Bridal Shoot

June 8, 2018 | News

Today we’re pleased to feature a sultry and sumptuous styled shoot. Photographer Katie Rogers explains the theme for the shoot and how they set the mood: “I wanted to create a sumptuous mood, with soft winter light and a dash of deep velvet tones and delicate details. The inspiration came from my favourite time in a wedding day; bridal preparation and portraits. Those last few hours before getting married should be cherished and delighted in, a time to feel content surrounded by carefully chosen and personal details to mark the occasion. Essentially, I want to inspire brides to spoil themselves and feel their best ahead of their vows, and that…

Quirky Vegas Elopement

June 6, 2018 | News

Natasha Buckney is a photographer who is relatively new to the wedding scene. She came on my radar last year when she started advertising in the magazine. She also exhibited at my last wedding fair and photographed my Christmas party. She immediately struck me as exactly the right sort of supplier for Margot’s Wedding. Her photography and branding has a real humble, heartfelt vibe. Her tagline within our directory says it all to be honest: Relaxed and heartfelt wedding photography for the quiet ones, the quirky ones and the couples who are very much in love. Well Natasha herself is very much…
