Fun Wedding Photography

Let’s imagine you’ve planned your wedding, the day’s been and gone, the honeymoon’s over and your photographer has finally delivered your eagerly anticipated edited wedding photos. What photos are you going to cherish and why? Lets think of reasons you might love a photo: Because you look super cool/gorgeous (good angle, good light, you look svelte, a natural smile etc etc). Because it oozes emotion (a heartfelt moment with your father before he walks down the aisle, the first look moment, speech laughs/tears etc). Because it’s heartwarming (a happy moment with a child or elderly relative perhaps). Because there’s a…

Fangirling on… All Frills Studio

I had a bit of birthday money knocking about (following my big 4 0 before Christmas) so I’ve booked myself onto a signwriting course at the beginning of March. I’m so excited! I feel like it’s something I really want to give a bash. I love words, I love colour, I love design and I would say I’m a pretty creative person. This could be my calling! I always say if I had my time again I would have gone down the graphic design route. I want to take the opportunity here to feature a signwriter I’ve been swooning over….

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside…

Goodness me, what a busy few days I’ve had! Saturday was spent doing last minute prep for Sunday’s wedding fair at The Worthing Dome; buying donuts, printing stuff, packing the car, fiddling about with pegboard signage etc! The next day my eyes pinged open at 5.45am, 15 minutes before my alarm, and it was all systems go to get myself in gear and over to Worthing for set up. And what a lovely day we had! It was the fourth fair we’ve hosted at the venue and it was officially our busiest yet. We love working with the guys at…

Mother of the Bride

Today we have a guest post from magazine contributor Pip O’Neill. She ponders wedding traditions and specifically etiquette when it comes to mother of the bride’s attire. Over to Pip!.. A lot of wedding traditions are lovely. The Something old, something new adage feels like a glorious opportunity to offer the magic of talismans to the next generation. Similarly, someone close to the happy couple standing and saying a few words, thus allowing for a moment of reflection and calm, in a pretty manic schedule, is a tradition that should not be done away with. What the wedding rules of…

Margot’s 70s Dessert Trolley

I didn’t feel well at the weekend so I spent plenty of time cocooned in a blanket on the sofa. Usually when I’m in this type of hibernation mode I go down an Instagram inspiration rabbit hole. Things I love: fun, parties, food, colour, nostalgia, theatre, quirk. What did I find that ticked all these boxes and got me excited? Retro desserts. Why oh why don’t we still have dessert trolleys like back in the seventies? Well, let me tell you guys, we can. I’m bringing it back for weddings. Big trifles to dig into, black forest gateaus, pineapple upside…

Rose Tinted Weddings

My business started out as a ‘vintage’ wedding business. It started with a single vintage china side plate and grew to a huge hire collection. The business was called Doily Days back then. I did other things but ‘vintage’ was always the theme holding it together. Two years ago when I rebranded to Margot’s Wedding, the idea was the business would become… well, less vintage. We’d evolved and we wanted the brand to represent that. For me, even at the beginning it wasn’t about being vintage as such, I was never a vintage aficionado. It was just about adding elements…

Margot’s Party

Happy New Year! I’m definitely easing myself back in gently… I’m feeling rather fragile. I’ve caught up with my emails and I’m scheduling some blog posts but I won’t be back with full force until next week! Christmas is hectic isn’t it? I think it’s too much. Who do we talk to about toning it down? My December also involves my son’s birthday and my birthday so I get an extra amount of overwhelm! It’s been a brilliant one but my word I’m glad to be getting back to normal. Next week you can expect more news of our next…
