Nikki from Canvas & Light is having lots of fun shopping for lighting, props etc for her upcoming open weekend. She’s created a detailed schedule for the event (11th-12th May at Hidden Valley in Godalming, Surrey). “I wanted to create a really useful but relaxed opportunity for couples to see how an outdoor wedding comes together” says Nikki.

About Fiesta Fields
Nikki Ford took her first step into the world of outdoor events five years ago when planning her our wedding. She loved the planning process but realised it was a lot more involved than going for a more traditional kind of venue.
The flexibility you have with a blank canvas is appealing to couples who want to do things a bit differently, but the to-do-list can sometimes feel overwhelming. You find yourself researching generators, glassware hire and bins, when you want to be thinking about flowers, styling and playing around on Pinterest! Nikki wanted to offer help to couples, by showcasing gorgeous spaces alongside planning services and support. She started Fiesta Fields with just one site, the site where she got married, but soon landowners started to find her and the portfolio grew. She now works with nine sites dotted around Surrey and West Sussex. The team has grown and they’ve had 25 couples celebrate with them, with 20 more couples no doubt excited about their wedding this summer. They offer full flexibility on choice of supplier, and are available to help as much or as little as couples like.
About Canvas & Light
Nikki felt it was a very natural step to extend their offering into canvas and she got her husband on board to start Canvas & Light. They see themselves as a boutique tipi supplier offering a very personal and high level of service.
They both immediately chose the off-white tipis supplied by Tentipi. They invented the Nordic tipi – inspired by the Sami culture of Lapland – and have been manufacturing Nordic Tipis for 30 years now. So the tipis are of the highest quality, and can cope with whatever weather Mother Nature throws at us.
There are two sizes, the Stratus (or giant hat) and the Cirrus. They are super versatile and can be used as single standalone tipis or joined together in various configurations. For example, two Stratus tipis, when joined together, will comfortably seat 90 people and three Stratus tipis can accommodate up to 150 guests, including space for a dance floor. The Cirrus makes a great little addition and can provide space for additional seating or to create a cosy chill out area with soft seating and a bar.
Another great thing about the Stratus is that each side can be lifted, so for a summer wedding, they are perfect for letting the outside in and allowing a bit of breeze to flow through. On a colder day you can have all the sides down, a couple of firepits and you have a really toasty space to celebrate in. Marshmallows and skewers at the ready.
Furniture, lighting, styling etc
The solid wooden poles, off-white canvas and neutral flooring provides a stunning blank canvas. The structures need very little dressing to look incredible. Fairy lights wrapped around the poles look beautiful and they have various other lighting set-ups that you’ll be able to see at the open day.
They have rustic wooden tables and chairs available, oxblood-red vintage Chesterfields and Moroccan pouffes for a sweet little outdoor chill out area. They also have festival flags, a wooden bar, shepherds crooks, lanterns, tiki torches, blankets, kilner dispensers and mini milk bottles.
They have a small Nimbus tipi currently in production, perfect to offer cover for an outside bar or caterer. Nikki also can’t wait to shoot their ‘naked’ mini ceremony tipi at the open weekend
A must for your diary…
