Margot’s Winchester Wedding Fair

It seems like such a long time ago we shouted about an upcoming wedding fair! We cancelled five wedding fairs during the pandemic so we’re delighted to be back in action with an upcoming date and a new venue… Above photos (1&3) Ferris & Sloane Photography On Sunday 7th November you’ll find us popping up with an inspirational event in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral. Expect a marquee full of fabulous suppliers, goody bags, fizz, canapes, live music and creative workshops. Country Garden Styling with Bell & Bell Events

Bell & Bell Events is run by sister duo Jen and Sue. I spoke to them about their hire collection, their unique aesthetic and how they’ve kept busy during the pandemic… When Sue was planning her wedding back in 2018, she and her husband were set on creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. They wanted an intimate, country-style wedding with a bit of fun. Their wedding was at Cissbury Barns which, at the time, was still being converted from an old sheep barn. “A little bit of spit and sawdust was what we saw and fell in love with” says Sue. They…

Q&A with Christina from Rock the Dancefloor

I fell for Rock the Dancefloor when I saw their fun retro bridal shoot at Bobby’s in London. We all know I have a weakness for anything retro and iconic and this really got me feeling all the feels. I felt (from obsessively studying her Instagram page) that founder/creative director Christina must be a girl after my own heart, so I wanted to grill her and feature her on the blog. You’re welcome!.. Q. Hi Christina! Can you start by telling us what your vision is for Rock the Dancefloor please? i.e. what services you offer. A. Rock the Dancefloor…

Supplier Spotlight – Bombshell HQ

I’m thrilled to feature Bombshell HQ today. I’ve spent quite some time sipping coffee and deciding on my favourite dresses from their collection to share with you. It’s got me feeling all fancy I have to say! You will see their designs are all timeless and ageless so they’re great investments pieces. I think they work equally well for bridesmaids, guests and mother-of-the-bride/groom. The designer behind Bombshell is Katya Wildman. She was a costume designer for television, so when she couldn’t find a dress suitable for her curves, she designed one… and so Bombshell HQ was born! “I wanted to…

Dream Wedding Venue – The Boat Shed

Sometimes I think The Boat Shed project was all a dream. Did I dream about a unique waterside space filled with trestle tables, festoon lighting and flowers? It seemed so real; the taste of cold fizz, the servings of street food, the sound of the band rehearsing… Was my whole career a figment of my imagination? I think I might be going slightly mad. Is anyone else going slightly mad?   As it stands our first wedding is the end of June next year. It seems soooo long away but BRING IT ON. I’ve had my hair cut now, and…

2021 Wedding Flower Trends

Direct2Florist examined Google data from March 2020 until now to see which wedding flower trends have seen the biggest increase in UK searches as we head into wedding season post-lockdown. Seeing an enormous 623% increase, it looks like dried flowers are set to be 2021’s biggest wedding flower trend. Wendy Rea, florist at Direct2Florist, offered her comments on some of the 2021 flower trends: Dried flowers, pampas grass and protea arrangements  “We’re seeing a huge increase for dried flowers in 2021 wedding planning, alongside variants like pampas grass displays and protea arrangements. Dried flowers are surprisingly versatile, lending themselves to…

Something Green Virtual Wedding Fair

New research for North London Waste Authority (NLWA) shows that two in five people planning weddings in the next five years say making their wedding as green as possible is a key priority. Sussex Florals – Bridal Bouquet Ideas

Today we hand over to Petra of Sussex Florals to talk all things bridal bouquet… The bride’s bouquet to me is the most important element to get right before we plan the rest of the wedding flowers. It not only sets the tone of the décor for the wedding, but it’s also the first thing guests see when the bride walks down the aisle. Once we get the bouquet sorted everything else falls into place. Some brides come to me full of ideas and others need a bit more guidance, but we always get there in the end. There is…

Pops of Pink @ The Giraffe Shed

The force that is Sally Gallis, stylist and planner of Luna & the Lane, has recently been involved with two styled shoots at The Giraffe Shed. Both had pink elements so I wanted to combine them into an inspirational post to show ideas for pink styling details. The super-fun, throw-all-the-pink-at-it, bubble gum pink shoot, complete with disco balls and power florals was named I Believe in Pink. The bold, edgy styling elements formed the subject for a photographers workshop at the venue. As much pink as you can throw a stick at. The shoot with more muted, contemporary elements was…

Hester & Boris’s Chic London Pub Wedding

Note: This fabulous wedding was in Autumn 2019, so pre-Covid. It’s bizarre to see people packed in close proximity in a pub; eating, drinking, hugging, kissing and enjoying themselves! It’s a reminder of everything we’ve been missing and everything we need to get back to ASAP! We love this simple, chic London wedding with Bulgarian traditions… Q. What was the theme/style for your big day? A. We didn’t set a specific theme or style for our wedding. We wanted it to represent both our cultures, Bulgaria and the UK, and to reflect the fact we were getting married in London….
