Virtual Hen Parties by Raggy&Boo

Freedom may be on the horizon but we’ve still got the last leg of the journey ahead of us. There are still occasions to celebrate and, with weddings looking to be back on in a few months, now is surely the time to don your L plates and gather the hens? Hampshire-based event company, Raggy&Boo, is offering a selection of virtual events which can all be delivered safely to your door and enjoyed with friends/family/colleagues over a zoom. (At least this way you don’t have to share a room with your friend’s auntie, and no matter how drunk you get…

Bridal FaceTime Shoot with Tim Dunk

If Covid affected your business, how did you handle it? Did you cry? Did you moan? Or did you engage your creative brain and think of ways to pivot/thrive? Until last year Leeds-based Tim Dunk was best known for his creative, alternative wedding photography. When it all hit the fan last year Tim came up with FaceTime photo shoots as a Covid-secure idea to get creative, lift people’s spirits and raise money for a food bank charity. I took part in a shoot with Tim right at the beginning of the first lockdown. I remember how out-of-sorts I was feeling…

Juxta-posy!

I ended up doing an impromptu creative photo shoot on my daily exercise last week! Here’s how it came about. When dreaming up ideas for blog content I thought about the FaceTime photo shoot I did with Tim Dunk waaaay back at the start of the first lockdown. I thought it would be a cool idea to see if we could do a bridal shoot via FaceTime. I contacted Tim and he was in! So then I had a quick think about who our model could be. It had to be someone with a suitable dress and accessories, and someone…

How To Plan A Micro Wedding

Today we hand over to Hampshire-based wedding photographer Jason Williams for his advice when it comes to planning a micro wedding… Without trying to state the obvious, Covid has thrown more than a spanner or two into the wedding works. What we used to take for granted has been taken away from us, and that thing we humans crave most – human closeness – is now almost a long forgotten dream. If you were to list things which describe a ‘wedding’, human closeness would be on that list. The days of 100+ people all gathering to celebrate are well and…

Charlotte & Ben’s Covid-affected Portsmouth Wedding

Southsea-based Charlotte and Ben were the models for our boat shed shoot back in March. Their big wedding plans were affected by Covid this year so we caught up with them to find out how they adapted… Q. When did you get engaged? And when did you start planning your wedding?  A. We got engaged in 2019 in Yosemite, California when I was working in San Francisco. Ben flew out to join me for a week. He proposed in the coolest of yurts in a forest, complete with hummingbirds and wild deer. We got engaged over refried potatoes and a…

The Boat Shed – London Warehouse Vibes by the Sea

Blog posts have been boat shed-heavy lately… but that’s just because we’ve got so much great content at the moment! We were eagerly awaiting the professional edited photos from our recent Boat Shed open day and boy, Weddings by Tom, did NOT disappoint. At the open day we really wanted to showcase the space and demonstrate how it could look for an event. We set up the space for a photo shoot back in March with a kitsch, colourful theme and this time I wanted something a little different. I still wanted the relaxed/rustic look because, lets face it, it…

The Boat Shed Open Day – Thank You

Hello, hello! This is a very quick blog post as my son is waiting patiently for me to make a rocket with him (full time school from next week! Bring it on…) I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to all the suppliers who came together to make Sunday’s open day at The Boat Shed such a success. My vision really did come to life in the space. It looked incredible; the festoon lighting, the neon, the giant light up PARTY letters, the bar, flowers, furniture, tableware… the cake! The music. It was a total dream. I’ll be…
