Today we focus our spotlight on The Neigh Bar, a mobile horsebox bar based in West Sussex. If you’re feeling a bit chilly as the winds whips outside your window, you’ll love the sound of their warming winter drinks. Over to Paul…
Q. How did The Neigh Bar come about? i.e. what are your backgrounds?
A. The Neigh Bar came about due to my wife Claire’s involvement in the wedding industry as a florist. I liked the idea of something different to bring to the world of weddings and events.
Q. How did you decide on a horse box for your mobile bar? Where did you get it, did you do the renovation yourself etc?
A. We decided on a horsebox as we had seen some that had been converted into food /drinks trailers. So we set about looking for one. We found one in Nottingham that had been converted, contacted the seller but they had just sold it! However, they helped us find one! We soon had a blank canvas to work from… and The Neigh Bar was born.
Q. How do your packages work for weddings?
A. All our packages are fully tailored to the wedding and budget. We believe that this works best for us and the client as every event is different.
Q. Which venues do you frequent/what kind of weddings are you most suited to?
A. We do a lot of weddings in our local area in venues such as Peelings Manor Barn, The Oak Barn, Horstedpond Farm. But we’re happy to travel. We’re most suited to outdoor festival-style weddings.
Q. Tell us about the drinks you serve i.e. what cocktails are on your list and what beer and wine do you serve?
A. We serve local beer from Longman, Harvey’s and Battle Brewery’s. Our local cider is from Hurstwood Cider and we serve local gin from Harley House Distillery. The popular cocktails we serve are Mojito, Aperol Spritz and Bucks Fizz. Pimms is popular for outdoor events in the summer, and in winter we serve things like salted caramel rum hot chocolate and Irish Coffee.
Q. Can wedding clients request specific drinks to be available via The Neigh Bar?
A. Of course, our bar menu is fully customisable!
Q. You also have an indoor bar too? Can you tell us about that? Did it come about after the horse box bar?
A. We have a pop up pallet bar we can run alongside the trailer or completely separate. We added this last year as a client requested it and now we offer it as an option.
Q. What do you love about running the bar for weddings?
A. We love what we do! And the best reward for all the hard work is seeing everyone having a good time and enjoying themselves.
