How are we all adapting to the new normal? Whose social life is better than it’s ever been? Who has thrown themselves into Zoom in a big way? Me! We have more time on our hands and there are so many online resources to get involved with. I for one am making the most of them when I can. I love supporting small independent businesses and I think now more than ever it’s very important. I champion people who are diversifying their offering during this time and working hard… not just sitting about watching Tiger King!
Since meeting Maxine Bailey-Green, via a local networking group last year, I’ve followed her work with great interest. She’s the founder of The Max Effect, and she’s based locally to me (in Southsea, Hampshire). She’s a yoga and breathwork practitioner and she specialises in a range of holistic therapies.
I’ve been doing some free online breathwork and yoga classes with Max via LANO online (check it out and try out some classes! The teachers are amazing). When I saw her Girl’s Night In package via Instagram I thought it was a great idea. I did it last night with a group of friends but it struck me that this would be a lovely get together for hens who aren’t able to have their hen parties/weekends as planned.
Girl’s Night In – What is it?
Gather your besties and invite Max into your homes virtually to nurture and connect your mind, body and soul.
After an introduction from Max, the session starts with some breathwork to rejuvenate, rebalance and encourage healing and relaxation of the facial muscles. Participants are then guided through how to do a natural face lift, working on lifting, toning, sculpting and lymphatic drainage.
The session closes with a beautiful guided mediation while relaxing in a restorative yoga pose.
By the end of the class, your nervous system will have been encouraged to sink into ‘rest and digest’ leaving you feeling nourished, nurtured, and supported.
It’s also just so nice to see your friend’s faces! Makeup free, in fluffy dressing gowns…
What you need to do
- Download the free Zoom app on your laptop, iPad or phone.
- Set the scene with soft lighting, candles, incense, music.
- Cleanse your face and tie your hair back.
- Have your favourite facial oil to hand (or coconut oil from the kitchen cupboard).
- Wear a low top as part of the treatment includes work on the neck and décolletage.
- Gather warm comfy clothes, a pillow and blanket for the relaxation.
- Ensure you have space to lie down.
How much is it?
It’s £10 per person and you need a minimum of five. Max sends each participant an email with the Zoom link, instructions and her bank details to make individual payments.
Give it a go! Whether it’s an alternative hen party, or a get together with friends and family, it’s a great lockdown experience and really good value for money.
(P.S. If you’re looking for other ideas, I recently blogged about the FaceTime photoshoot I did with Tim Dunk which was a fantastic experience too).
