Margot’s Party

Happy New Year! I’m definitely easing myself back in gently… I’m feeling rather fragile. I’ve caught up with my emails and I’m scheduling some blog posts but I won’t be back with full force until next week!

Christmas is hectic isn’t it? I think it’s too much. Who do we talk to about toning it down? My December also involves my son’s birthday and my birthday so I get an extra amount of overwhelm! It’s been a brilliant one but my word I’m glad to be getting back to normal.

Next week you can expect more news of our next wedding fair (26th January at The Worthing Dome) but for now I wanted to post about my amazing 40th birthday party!

The Wave Maiden with their quirky retro interior was the perfect choice for this sophisticated 70s soiree.

I barely needed to consider decor but I took my own flying ducks and a few framed record covers.

The disco lighting hire was a birthday gift from the boss himself… Flamingo Boss.

The giant light up letters were fantastic and Smell the Roses created a beautiful balloon cloud to go with them.

The Wave Maiden went ‘off menu’ for us. As well as stuffing balls, pigs in blankets and turkey sandwiches, we had vol au vents, cheese and pineapple on sticks and devilled eggs.

It was my very own Abigail’s Party… Margot’s Party!

My lovely friend Kerry from Teddy Pig Photography was brilliant. I didn’t notice her following me around all night and her hubby bought me shots of vanilla vodka at the bar.

My dress was a beauty that my sister found in the charity shop.

I was so impressed with the thought that went into the outfits! It really made for a brilliant night and great photos.

I read a speech I’d written to mark the occasion, reflecting on four decades of being alive!

As well as a Spotify playlist of old school bangers I also created a YouTube playlist that we projected for authentic visuals.

The dress code was ’70s dinner party’… some people went a little ‘off piste’.

I did a pegboard that read ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’.

My sister made an amazing cake – layers of pineapple upside down cake with glace cherries and fresh cream.

Lauren from ID did an amazing job with my hair and makeup! I bloody loved it…

Thank you so much to everyone who made it so special! I loved planning this party so if you need a planner for an event with this theme, get in touch!
