Sadye & John’s outdoor, riverside wedding oozed ‘cool’ with Ibiza chillout vibes at sunset, and sparkly gold jumpsuits for the bridesmaids. Over to Sadye…
Q. What was the theme/style for your big day?
A. We wanted to create a relaxed day that everyone could enjoy, including us. We also wanted to party hard in the evening! We didn’t have a theme as such, but the style was summer with lots of green and gold (including gold bridesmaids jumpsuits!) We were so lucky to get the most sunny day. A friend described it to me as ‘classy/sophisticated boho’… is that even a thing?!
Q. What was most important to you when it came to tying the knot/celebrating your marriage?
A. That everyone had the best time. Plus good food, good music and plenty of booze. We also really wanted to have our ceremony outside, which we managed to do as the weather was so glorious.
Q. How did you chose your venue and suppliers?
A. We wanted a wedding on the river in SW London with a relaxed vibe, great food and a beautiful outdoor space so as soon as we saw The Bingham Riverhouse, we knew it was the perfect venue for us. Our florist was the florist from my sister’s wedding so I trusted her completely and she definitely delivered! We wanted a relaxed photographer that didn’t force too many formal shots so we found Kerry on Instagram and, after a video call and a great chat, knew she was the one. Our band was more difficult to choose as we couldn’t watch them perform beforehand. We chose Halfway to New York as they differed from the usual ‘wedding band’ vibe and have a rock n roll style which is what we love. Sam (the frontman) also sent us an acoustic version of him singing our first dance song, and that absolutely cinched it for us. My hair and make-up artist was a lovely lady called Adie, I found her on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her hairstyles. She’s amazing at both hair and make-up.
Q. Where did you get your ideas and inspiration?
A. Mainly from Instagram and wedding sites/blogs. However, we had friend and family recommendations too, along with other inspo we took from the various weddings we have been to over the years.
Q. Tell us about your dress.
A. My dress was a Temperley gown (The Bella Dress) that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The pearlescent beading and sequins on the entire gown were beautiful, and the neckline was gorgeous. When I asked John (before the wedding), what style of dress he thought I would wear, he described it to a t – so I definitely knew it was ‘me’. I so wish I could wear it again!
Q. What was on the menu?
A. After the drinks/canapes reception, to eat we had Burrata followed by a chicken dish with the loveliest sweetcorn cream and smoky mash – it went down a treat and we’ve had so many comments on how delicious the food was. We also had pulled pork and coleslaw buns in the evening – our guests loved these.
Q. What was the quirkiest element of the day?
A. Probably the cake and cocktails we had for dessert – our cakes were made by a very talented family member and we had lots of different flavours including salted caramel, carrot cake with Jaffa icing and Biscoff cupcakes! We served the cake with Mr & Mrs cocktails (Espresso martini for Mrs, Cucumber Martini for Mr) on the terrace to some Ibiza sunset tunes. It was the perfect opportunity to get everyone up off their seats and re-energised to party hard after a big meal!
Q. Tell us about your photographer – how you found them, how they fitted into the day and what you thought of your finished gallery.
A. Kerry (Teddy Pig Photography) was amazing and we are so pleased we chose her. We found her on Instagram and her candid, documentary style appealed to us. We didn’t want 1000 formal shots on the day, we just wanted to enjoy it. Kerry fitted the bill perfectly and was just fabulous from start to finish. She was like one of the wedding party on the day and all our guests said how lovely she was. The gallery exceeded all our expectations – she captured the day perfectly. There are so many favourites, we can’t even choose our top ten!
Q. What was your favourite memory from the day?
A. So many memories! If I had to choose one, it was looking out at everyone from our table at the meal and seeing them all happy, laughing and chatting – there was so much love. There’s something very special about having everyone you love in the world in one room!
Q. What was your first dance to/what did you walk down to the aisle to?
A. Walked down the aisle to Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap. First dance was Use Somebody by Kings of Leon (our fave band ever).
