Supplier Spotlight ~ Amy Lane Illustration

October 25, 2018 | News

Receiving a wedding invitation is such a thrill isn’t it? Personal post always stands out amongst the everyday junk mail and bills… but a wedding invitation is full of promise. It marks the start of a memorable event; annual leave is confirmed, hotels booked, outfits planned. What will the weather be like? Who will be there? What will the bride be wearing?

I think the wedding invitation should set the tone for the event and the design should carry right through from Order of Service to menus, place names etc, and finally to thank you cards.

If you’re a fun, quirky couple you’re going to love Amy Lane Illustration. Amy’s a London-based illustrator and designer who produces bespoke images filled with personality – your personality! She has a degree in illustration from the University of the Creative Arts so every wedding design is hand-drawn and unique to each couple.

The starting point to the process is a conversation with Amy. You’ll tell her about yourselves and go through any ideas you’ve got. You’ll then provide photos for her to work with, of yourselves and anything else you want incorporated into the design. This could be pets, locations, objects etc. Anything that represents you or is important to you. A location for example could provide a great theme – London skylines or botanical or beach elements.

You’ll be able to request a particular style or colour palette or any theme you want. For example Amy did a book-themed wedding set where each design was made to look like a book cover (and she drew a treasure map to the wedding venue!)

“Some couples will have a clear idea of what they want, and some have no idea” explains Amy. “Either way is totally fine. No request is too complex or too simple, it’s great to bring people’s ideas to reality.”

Amy then creates sketches and rough layouts and checks them over with the couple, implementing any changes before finalising and colouring. She will also include some hand-drawn calligraphy into the design – often the couple’s names or Save the Date etc. She makes sure each couple is 100% happy with every detail of the design.

We think this is such a cute, quirky idea and a really fun keepsake. Amy’s work also includes pet portraits and illustrations for children’s books.
