I’m thrilled to feature Bombshell HQ today. I’ve spent quite some time sipping coffee and deciding on my favourite dresses from their collection to share with you. It’s got me feeling all fancy I have to say!
You will see their designs are all timeless and ageless so they’re great investments pieces. I think they work equally well for bridesmaids, guests and mother-of-the-bride/groom.
The designer behind Bombshell is Katya Wildman. She was a costume designer for television, so when she couldn’t find a dress suitable for her curves, she designed one… and so Bombshell HQ was born! “I wanted to create a dress that would become a woman’s ultimate secret weapon” explains Katya “Confidence is integral to my design philosophy. The Bombshell dress empowers women to feel they can take on the world”.
Just looking at these outfits makes me want to walk taller and sashay with confidence and sass!
Katya says “It’s possible to create the desirable hourglass shape across all body types by creating balance within a dress”. We all have bits we don’t like but the design techniques used in these dresses skim and lift and make you look and feel the best version of yourself.
My Favourite Pieces
Liberty Limited Edition Confident Cap Sleeve Dresses
I’m in love with these Liberty print cap sleeve dresses and these are my favourite prints; Tana Lawn Xanthe Sunbeam, Tana Lawn Capevista and Tana Lawn Daisy Roar.
The sarong skirt is flattering with concealing drapes, the past the knee length is elegant and modest, Shirred side panels nip you in to create that hourglass shape, and flattering cap sleeves offer that important balance.
Navy Rose Print Dresses and Coat
I was really drawn to this navy rose print and I love both the cap sleeve dress and 3/4 sleeve Confident dress. I can see a proud mother-of-the-bride or groom wearing this print with the stunning occasion coat. The coat really makes the dress an ‘outfit’. It finishes just below the dress, as all good dress coats should, and features a Dior ‘New Look’ style collar as well as pockets.
Tie Front Shirt Dresses
The shirt dresses with front ties are Inspired by Grace Kelly, and Dior dresses of the 50s. Princess lines sculpt and visually raise the bust, and the tie front flatters the tummy area. The skirt skims the hips in just the right place. I love the Hydrangea print, the navy polka dot and the Cotswold Voile ‘Grace’ dress (which is in the sale!)
Edge of the Shoulder Dresses
These midi dresses offer a stunning wide neckline, so you still get the confidence of wearing a bra. My favourites are the leopard print, the navy polka dot and the incredible gold dress made from gold and cream brocade fabric.
And finally, I also love…
The Xanthe Magenta Shirt Dress, the Liberty print Sunshine Meadow pocket dress and the Angel Sleeves Grace jumpsuit in navy.
Bombshell top tip!
If looking for an outfit for May 2022, you should be looking at buying your dress THIS summer. Why? Because come Spring next year not all the summer stock will be in the shops.
Bombshell’s Mother-of-the-Bride advice:
Traditionally the mother of the bride gets to choose the colour for her outfit after the bride has chosen the bridesmaid colours. So you will need to communicate with the bridal party as it will dictate the best coordinating colour for you.
Leopard print bridesmaids. Too much? Animal print is always en trend and a fashion staple. I could definitely get on board with a couple of chic bridesmaids in leopard, especially as Bombshell HQ offers a few different designs; their best-selling leopard pocket dress, the limited-edition leopard wrap dress, and the edge of the shoulder midi dress (featured). Can we put in a request for a leopard jumpsuit please?
