Did you know it’s World Earth Day today? It’s an annual event that demonstrates global support for environmental protection.
The wedding industry is one of the most reckless industries, with British weddings producing 85,250 tonnes of landfill waste in one year. A recent poll conducted by the North London Waste Authority shows that the trend for eco-weddings is gathering momentum, and two in five engaged couples are considering sustainability as a key concern for their big day.
Sustainable Wedding Workshops are hosting practical workshops in London this September to give engaged couples the tools to create a sustainable wedding day that is both beautiful and reflects their values.
Maria Neves, a wedding planner with over 15 years of experience in the industry, launched Sustainable Wedding Workshops out of her passion for helping other people and the planet.
I worked for Sarah Balfour at Orchid Events for eight years. We planned luxury events at some of the most prestigious venues in London. Seeing the waste and damage to the environment traditional weddings can create, I knew it was time to rethink the way the industry works and offer something very different. Now, more than ever before we need to respect and protect our planet. – Maria Neves
